Multiple Planning Studies and Renovations
Tufts University, Medford, MA
Since 2015, Jones Architecture has been working on the Tufts University campus on a regular basis supporting their Facilities and Project Management team. Project types have included audiology and testing labs, and a comprehensive planning study for the Tufts Technology Services (“TTS”) Group, encompassing some 250 personnel, 9 directorates, and 8 buildings on three campuses (Medford, Boston, and Grafton).
The goal of the TTS planning study was to develop recommendations for physically transforming the existing IT work environments across the university in response to the recent integration. TTS wanted to create vibrant, exciting work places that encourage productive engagement with clients and enable collaboration and innovation across the directorates, while also supporting the recruitment and retention of excellent IT staff. Jones Architecture documented existing conditions, surveyed directorates and staff, and developed scalar space consolidation and adjacency recommendations to best facilitate a variety of work processes and cultures as well as integrating new technology solutions to create an environment of collaboration.
