YMCA Community/Recreation Center Renovations

Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA, Marblehead, MA

Beacon Street Residence

OVERVIEW

To better serve its existing membership, as well as attract new members, the Lynch/van Otterloo YMCA sought to enhance its overall user experience and make better use of their existing facilities. Jones Architecture worked with Seger Architects and the Y staff to renovate the first floor lobby and adjoining spaces, as well as select fitness spaces on Level 2.

Significant improvements were made to the lobby, café, and administration suite, while new spaces were created for a dedicated member services area, expanded Early Learning Center and relocated Kids’ Club. As a result of infilling a 600 SF double-height space, members can now enjoy an expanded exercise room on the second floor.

“I could not have been more pleased with our Y’s experience working with the folks at Seger Architects and Jones Architecture. Dan and Christian brought a wealth of experience and ideas to ensure our renovation met the expectations of our organization and our membership. The process and experience was an enjoyable one. The end result was everything we could have hoped for and more and without reservation that is a direct result of having a strong partnership during our entire process. Thank you for a job tremendously well done and our Y looks forward to working with the team again in the near future!”
