Hurley Street Warehouse Adaptive Reuse

High Tech Ventures Developers, Cambridge, MA

Hurley Street Warehouse

OVERVIEW

Jones Architecture collaborated with Dan Hisel Architect on the adaptive reuse of 18 Hurley Street in Cambridge, MA. The project involved converting the three-story warehouse to a business incubator speculative office space. The conceptual design proposed a contemporary exterior canopy with branding to identify the building and contrast to its traditional brick façade. A skylight addition brings natural light into a central atrium and lobby stair core and enhances the environment on all floors. Inside, a flexible layout and program anticipates the needs of potential lessees–open offices and movable furniture, social spaces, conference rooms, and connecting stairs–to facilitate collaboration. Some private offices are also included. The project deliverables are assisting in marketing the potential of this office development to other partners and investors.
